Here a note on the term ‘evolutionists’. In naming factions, one usually chooses a name that is meaningful, and usually a positive meaning. Royalists in previous conflicts would not have known what to think of one of their number who stood in their midst and declared that he was a royalist only in the strict and exact sense that he believed the royals existed. Nor do Republicans limit themselves to the declaration that republics have been thought of; instead one generally finds that they believe that republics should exist. More to the point, they believe that a republic should exist for them.

To that end, one might expect evolutionists not to stop at the proclamation that evolution is fact; one might perhaps expect them to proclaim Evolution a Good Thing. And in fact they do. This has been well-documented by minds more inquiring and eyes keener than mine, and when I have time to update this post I will keenly deplore this trend.
