Aravind is expanding the market for eye care while providing 60% of its recipients free services.

With high productivity, they feed off market inefficiencies to function. What other widespread problems could be addressed with a similarly simple approach?

One thought: At a micro level, this must be an industrial product, as opposed to a creative product. The tasks at the lowest level are handled by well-trained village girls, which uses India’s advantage in cheaper yet reliable labour.

I suppose the lesson is to use available resources to their potential strengths while seeking market niches with untapped expansion possibilities. Creatively attack problems and constantly improve while ensuring sustainability.

Main point: The surfeit of choice in affluent developed nations leads paradoxically to lower satisfaction.

This rings very true for me. Not being able to complete a task / answer a question / make a decision perfectly paralyses me. Maybe it’s just procrastination, but maybe what I need is to limit my options drastically and push forward, making a point not to be caught up in regrets.

Idea: Decide on a fixed time frame for evaluating my choices, rather than open-ended restropection.

This applies equally to supermarket shopping as to choosing a university.
